• CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein secreted by the chorionic cells of the placenta after implantation of a fertilized egg and can be circulated into the blood and urine. HCG can be detected in serum or urine 1 week after normal gestation, and the concentration of HCG rises rapidly, usually exceeding 100mlU/ml to the first menopause, and reaches the peak of 15,000 ~200000mlU/ml to 10~12 weeks of gestation. The urine HCG of non-pregnant women is usually lower than 25mIU/ mL, so the detection of HCG is an important indicator of pregnancy with acute pregnancy syndrome.
