This Product is intended to be used by professionals to quantitative determination of Cys-C in human serum, plasma in vitro.

• CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Cys-C (Serum Cystatin C), is a major biomarker of renal function. Cys-C is cleared from the blood by glomerular filtration of the kidney. Cys-C levels are a more accurate indicator of renal function (as represented by glomerular filtration rate (GFR)) than serum creatinine levels. Cys-C levels are less dependent on age, sex, race, and muscle mass than creatinine. Studies have shown that Cys-C may predict the risk of chronic kidney disease and thus indicate a "preclinical" state of renal insufficiency.
