NT-proBNP (N-terminal Prohormone Of Brain Natriuretic Peptide)

• INTENDED USE

This Product is used for quantitative determination of NT-proBNP in human serum, plasma in vitro.It is intended to be used by professionals to assist clinical early diagnosis related to heart failure. Any reactive specimen with the the NT-proBNP (N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide) Detection Kit  (Fluorescence Immunochromatography) must be confirmed with an alternative testing method(s) and clinical findings.

• CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

ProBNP (containing 108 amino acids) is mainly secreted by the ventricle, during which it is cleaved into physiologically active BNP (77-108) and NT-probNP amino-terminal fragments (1-76). NT-proBNP level in the blood is used for screening, diagnosis of acute congestive heart falure (CHF) and may be useful to establish prognosis in heart falure, as it is typically higher in pafents with worse outcome. In addition, NT-probNP is also widely used in the differential diagnosis of acute dyspnea (pulmonary, cardiogenic), prognosis assessment of acute coronary syndrome and monitoring of cardiac surgery before, during and after surgery.
