PRL (Prolactin) Detection Kit

• INTENDED USE

This Product is  intended to be used by professionals to quantitative determination of PRL in human serum, plasma in vitro.

• CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

PRL is synthesized and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. This hormone contains 198 amino acids and has a molecular weight of about 22-23kD, and its main function is to promote the development of mammary gland and lactation. During pregnancy, concentrations of prolactin are elevated by increased production of estrogen and progesterone, which stimulate milk production and move into late lactation.PRL increase is commonly in pituitary prolactinoma, primary hypothyroidism, premature ovarian failure and lutein hypofunction. PRL decrease is commonly in adenohypophysis ischemic necrosis, hypophysis hypofunction and pure prolactin deficiency.
